From banking to Belgian fries

Premium organic food from around the world, chosen in Europe for Canadian freezers.

Morning mist over potato fields in Belgium

Cabera Foods is Chad Almon and Belma Ramic: two Canadians living in Europe, and two former bankers who traded balance sheets for farms, packing lines and freezer trucks.

The mission is simple. Bring premium organic food to Canadian freezers from wherever in the world it grows best, at a price that makes sense for a weekly shop.

Being in Europe is our edge. We walk the fields and packing halls ourselves, compare harvests country by country, and pick every supplier by hand rather than from a catalogue. Our potatoes and vegetables come from Belgian farms, in the country that perfected the frozen fry. Our fruit comes from Peru, Morocco, Poland, Spain and West Africa, picked ripe and frozen within hours. Every pack is filled and sealed in Belgium.

Banking taught us that every number has to hold up, and we run the business the same way: short ingredient lists, certified organic, and nothing you pay for that doesn’t end up in the bag.

Today that means sixteen products across fries, vegetables and fruit, in more than 240 grocers from Whitehorse to Wolfville. More are on the way in 2027. Stay tuned.
